Will Transform Recovery Opportunities in the Sioux Falls Area

A groundbreaking community initiative has led to the formation of a new non-profit organization that will fundamentally change the way the Sioux Falls area deals with alcohol and other drug problems.

The new organization, “Face It! Sioux Falls,” is the culmination of five months of town hall meetings involving volunteers from nearly every community sector.  Town hall participants worked cooperatively to identify community needs and lay the groundwork for the new organization, which will serve as the four county area’s leading provider of recovery support services. It will also champion an unprecedented awareness campaign to attack the stigma and shame that keep many from getting help.

Town hall participants also nominated and approved an experienced slate of directors to provide governance oversight for the new organization.  Board directors include:

  • Phyllis Bauerle, Assistant Director, Keystone Treatment Center
  • Brooke Beckham, Counselor, Compass Center , Southeastern Behavioral Healthcare, South Dakota State, Penitentiary, Choices Recovery Services
  • Pam Bollinger, CEO, Volunteers of America
  • Dr. Michael Crandell, Chief Medical Officer, Sanford Health Plan
  • Hugh Grogan, Director of Human Services, Minnehaha and Lincoln Counties
  • Kevin Kirby, Face It! Project Founder, Chairman of the Board, Twelve-step Living Corporation
  • Rick Knobe, Host, Viewpoint University, KSOO Radio
  • Mary Hitzemann, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Home Federal Bank
  • Bob Livingston, Twelve-step Living Corporation
  • Mary Wolf, Avera McKennan Employee Assistance Program 
  • Robin Zimmer, Development Director, Ronald McDonald House

The directors elected Rick Knobe as chairman of the board, Robin Zimmer as vice chairman and Kevin Kirby as secretary.
